On this page are a few of the diverse necklaces from the chinaknot's - ShuMing Collection.

A Note of Explaination: Where a pendant is incorporated into the design of the item, this is not to infer that ShuMing personally created the pendant. Rather, these pendants were personnaly selected by ShuMing during her trips to the various Southeast Asian Jade Markets. Whenever a particular pendant catches here eye, ShuMing purchases the item and upon her return to her studio, creates a design that will display the beauty of the item to it's best advantage.

Many of the items come from deep within mainland China and other Southeast Asian regions, where poor families handed them down from generation-to-generation, only recently selling them to to pay for money to obtain transportation to the more industrialized cities where they could seek work. Others are copies made by present day artisans, using modern-day tools and manufacturing techniques. ShuMing attempts to determine the origin of the more interesting and unique items whenever possible, however, it is very likely that this information is based more upon the imagination of the vendor in the Jade Market rather than on fact.

What is fact, however, is that the beauty and workmanship of each item included in the collection originally caught ShuMing's experienced eye and was personally selected by her for the enjoyment of her clients.
